| Course Description
Once each year, Clark-Skamania Flyfishers offers a class titled Introduction
to Rodbuilding. The class, under the leadership of Ralph Randall, is
offered exclusively to members (note: non-members are always welcome to
join
the club) and provides students with several hours of rodbuilding instruction
by one of the region's most experienced craftsmen. As a bonus, students
are able to purchase blanks and components at a substantial discount from
Angler's
Workshop, one of the area's best known suppliers. Students receive
one-on-one instruction each week that results in a more complete understanding
of the art of rod-building and the added pleasure of owning a fine flyrod
for much less than it would cost if purchased commercially.
Cost and Class Size Introduction to Rodbuildingmeets once a week over a period of several weeks. There is no fee. However, in order to provide the best possible learning environment, space is limited to 20 students and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. See the Club's Events Page for the date of the next class.
What You Need to Bring If you are interested in taking this course, we will put you in touch
with Mr. Randall to discuss the various blanks and components that are
available, or you may peruse the Angler's
Workshop catalog or any other source to determine which supplies you
will want to use. A list of required parts will be compiled and distributed
to each student before the start of the class.
